Reviews
When I discovered that Lang's "Four Seasons" calendar for 2011 was NOT using the artwork of John Sloane, I was disappointed - until I found that Amazon is carrying a calendar by the same name (different publisher) which does indeed use delightful paintings by John Sloane. Our kitchen has been graced with Sloane's annual collection of country charm, nostalgia and rich color for several years - and thankfully 2011 will be one of those years as well.Sloane's tasteful paintings show the natural beauty of the countryside - farm, home, roadside - and the people who live there (usually dressed a la very early 20th century) doing the things that people in the country do to work, play and celebrate the seasons. And if you are a fan of farm animals, you'll be happy to know that horses, dogs, and so on do appear in these paintings. One can tell that John Sloane appreciates country life: the paintings always have an upbeat, cheery quality to them. We look forward to seeing the new one at the beginning of each month. The price here on Amazon is so reasonable that I've just ordered a second copy of this calendar for the kitchen of our home-away-from-home.A note to those who display these calendars in frames - this calendar was a tight fit in our frame, but I trimmed one edge ever-so-slightly with a scissors, and the calendar now fits and looks just fine!
